A. We believe that a strong business is built on excellent customer service.
Only experts in their chosen field can provide this.
We are not simply just another Internet retailer who chose to sell safes.
We are an established and respected safe seller and locksmith company who choose to promote ourselves on the Internet. You can trust us, see our ‘about us' section.
A. No, despite our name ‘Homesafes', we actually sell safes of all sizes for domestic and commercial use all the way up to full size bank vaults.
A. Monday to Friday 8:30am to 6pm and Saturdays 8:30am to 12noon.
Closed on Sundays.
A. Yes, we have a network of approved Locksmiths throughout the British Isles and we

A. No, bolting down and moving the safe from your door to other parts of your premises are quoted on an individual basis, please contact us
A. We accept MasterCard, Visa, Switch, Maestro, Visa Delta, Visa Electron, Solo, JCB & Visa Purchasing, unfortunately at present we do not accept American Express or Dinners Club or cheque.

A. There is no easy answer to this but some possible places are:
a) Inside a fitted wardrobe bolted to the wall behind.
b) In the under stairs cupboard bolted either to the floor or the wall behind.
c) Under a desk in an office or study bolted either to the floor or the wall behind.
d) Under a dressing table in a bedroom bolted either to the floor or the wall behind.
A. Yes, all safes under 1000kg in weight must be fixed to the fabric of your building.
A. You can choose to have us install your safe (within the M25 area only at the moment) or we can send the safe to you for self-installation on a courier.
A. Because the safe is bolted from the inside to your property, this renders the safe with a massive virtual weight.
A. The general definition of a security Safe is a secure metal box that can be locked.
This is the most common type of safe. This type of safe is often called a Free-Standing Safe but this description is slightly misleading as all Security Safes must be securely bolted into the fabric of the building to be called secure.
A. A wall safe is a metal box that can be locked but is installed actually inside your wall space in the place of existing bricks and plaster. This type of safe is generally thought of in people's minds as the type that you see hidden behind a painting on a wall. We do not offer an installation service for Wall Safes; we always recommend that you speak to your preferred building contractor.
A. An Under floor Safe is a metal box with a locking lid on its upper most surface. These safes are buried under your floor in a block of concrete and reinforcing mesh.
We do not offer an installation service for Under Floor Safes; we always recommend that you speak to your preferred building contractor.
A. A Data Cabinet is a fire resistant locking box that has been designed to protect computer media from destruction in the event of a fire for a specific length of time.
A. A Data Cabinet is a fire resistant locking box that has been designed to protect documents from destruction in the event of a fire for a specific length of time.
A. A Deed Box is a rectangular portable metal box that can be locked. The most common application is for use in a Bank's safe depository.
A. A Cash Box is a rectangular portable metal box that can be locked, it also often features a plastic upper coin tray. The most common application is for use as a petty cash tin.
A. A Key Cabinet is a locking metal box that is screwed onto a wall. It is used for safe keeping of keys and features key-hooks inside.
A. A Gun Cabinet is a locking metal box for the safe keeping of Shot Guns or Rifles.
A. The type of lock system that you choose is really a matter of personal preference.
It is important to note that between the three options, none is better or more secure than the other.
Some factors to consider during your decision are as follows:
A key-locking safe normally comes with two keys. These keys are generally longer and more delicate that your house keys, so you may want to consider where you are going to store them.
Traditional dial type combinations eliminate keys and should last for years, but are not easy to operate and many customers prefer electronic digital keypads. It is also difficult to change the user combination on a traditional dial type combination.
Modern electronic digital combination keypads are very easy to use and also easy to change the combination, as and when you require.
A well-made CE marked digital system will last for a long time and we are often asked how long this actually is. We always make the comparison between this technology and other household technology that is found in the home. A TV set or a washing machine is as well made as a CE marked digital locking mechanism.
A. Safes can be made in many different qualities, with different door and wall thickness, lock types, bolt configurations and general build quality. These factors determine the safe's ‘rating', the higher the rating, the more secure the safe is.
The various types of ratings are explained further below.
A. Your household insurance policy usually only covers you for a very small amount of cash or valuables on the premises. The purchase and correct installation of a safe will usually increase these values. It is far more likely that you will be storing valuables such as jewellery instead of cash. The industry however, rates safes in cash primarily and then multiplies this cash rating x10 for your valuables. For example a safe rated at £1,000 in cash will also be rated at £10,000 in valuables. There are various levels of these ratings, the highest of these are called Euro Grade, see below.
A. The maker of the safe usually makes a recommendation as to the safes' rating.
If the rating is important to you, you should seek confirmation from your insurance provider that your selected safe meets with their approval. Euro Grade safes are specifically tested for their rating, see below.
A. With a Euro Rated safe, the rating is not simply a recommendation. The safe has been tested to the European Standard of EN1143-1. Any safe tested to this level is respected by the European Insurance industry.
This rating tends to be for larger values and is the ultimate test for secure storage.
The Euro Grade rating falls into six levels, see below:
GRADE 0 = £6,000 cash or £60,000 valuables
GRADE 1 = £10,000 cash or £100,000 valuables
GRADE 2 = £17,500 cash or £175,000 valuables
GRADE 3 = £35,000 cash or £350,000 valuables
GRADE 4 = £60,000 cash or £600,000 valuables
GRADE 5 = £100,000 cash or £1,000,000 valuables
A. This is a catastrophe; safes are designed to keep people without a key from opening the door. If you loose your key you will require the service of a safe engineer to gain entry for you. This process on lower value safes is almost always destructive.
We have our own engineers and can also recommend someone near you.
It is important that you do not store your spare key in the safe!

A. Your safe is designed that in the event of a battery failure it can be powered by other means. The safe will not forget your secret combination. Your operation manual will contain the information you need to open your safe. This information will open your safe only. It is important not to store this information or any equipment supplied to help you inside the safe!
A. All goods supplied by us come with a manufacturer's warranty of at least 12 months. See section 8.3 in our terms & conditions for more details.
A. In accordance with our terms & conditions (section 9.2) purchases may be returned for a refund by obtaining a Returns Authorization Number (RAN) within 7 days of the delivery date. To obtain your RAN please e-mail your details and reason for return to returns@homesafes.net
A. The purchase and correct installation of a safe is a wise decision. However it should only be considered as a single component of your total security package.
Insurance approved locks should be fitted to your doors and windows. You may wish to also consider the installation of security lighting and a intruder alarm system. Membership of your local neighbourhood watch scheme is also an excellent idea.
The web site of your local police force will usually contain invaluable advice for securing your property.
We also have a locksmith service www.locksmith.demon.co.uk
A. Safes by their very nature are heavy metal items that are designed to perform a function. They are not items of furniture and their aesthetic visual appearance is largely irrelevant as they are designed be installed in hidden locations within your building.
On occasion light damage can occur in the transportation process although this is rare.
Some manufactures will send you a touch-up kit providing we receive visual photographic evidence of damage via email beforehand.
We do not recognise cosmetic damage as grounds for refund or replacement. However, if the actual functionality of the product is impaired please get in touch.
